Nightlight Interview – Eric Pallozzi

This week we interview Eric Pallozzi , creator of Paloozer.

Welcome! Tell us a bit about yourself.

Hello, my name is Eric Pallozzi and I live in the beautiful tourist town of Branson, Missouri.

What game or games have you had published?

I have had lots of ideas for games through the years and have been working solely on one project off and on for 2 years now. The game is called Paloozer. and is published through The Game Crafter.

Do you publish under your own design label?

I currently use my published game as my design label. Paloozer Games.

How long have you been designing games?

Since I was about five. I used to create lots of games on poster board.

How much time do you spend designing and playing games?

It depends on the season but probably 15 hours a week on average

What types of games do you enjoy playing?

All kinds. Strategy, card games, classics, and word games.

What’s your favorite game other than one you’ve designed yourself?

That is a tough one. I really like Settlers of Catan.

Of your own projects, which is your favorite and why?

Well that is easy, Paloozer is my only game so far but I like it because of the fact that there is one main loser rather than a winner and the whole game revolves around this concept. It makes it a lot of fun.

What advice would you give to aspiring game designers?

Do not immediately try to get a patent for an idea. If you have a great idea begin by writing it down in a spiral bound log book as you begin to develop it. Use this to record and date everything. This will actually be your best defense against someone trying to steal your ideas (even with a patent).

Do you have any upcoming projects you’d like us to know about?

Lots are spinning around in my head but I am still working on getting Paloozer how I want it.

Anything else you’d like to say?

I would like to suggest that anyone serious about getting their game published should order the book by Brian Tinsman “The Game Designers Guidebook”.

Do you have a Twitter account, Blog or Facebook page you’d like to share with your fans?

Yes, you can check out my facebook page here. Thanks!

Thanks for your time, Eric! We look forward to seeing more of Paloozer! Good Luck!
