Sky Castles

Unbeknownst to most people stuck on the ground, sprites are tiny, good-natured beings who live in beautiful castles in the sky. They enjoy their days free from traffic jams and computer crashes, instead playing games and collecting the sparkling gems that form in the clouds.

Sky Castles is a fun tile-placement game for 2-4 players, designed by David Bradshaw. You place tiles to create a cloud-scape and then use your sprites to try to collect the most gems.

The game teaches basic spacial skills (select and place tiles so the borders match), simple maths (scoring with different color tokens worth different amounts), and planning / thinking ahead.

Children love the whimiscal theme, the tactile playing pieces, the colorful tiles, and the lovely gemstones.  (Note: Not suitable for very young children due to choking hazard.)

Adults find that this game opens up avenues to use strategy and forward planning, so this really is a great game for the whole family.  Bring it out after a nice meal and as soon as you finish the first game you’ll hear those magical words, “Let’s play that again!”
