Parts Pricing Update

Posted: September 28, 2012 in Uncategorized

Over the past two days we’ve gone through all of our parts and made changes to the pricing on many of them.

In the past year the prices of many of our components has gone up. Some to the point that we’re now losing money on them every time we sell them. So we had to re-evaluate our pricing. In some instances we discovered that we could actually afford to give price breaks on some components, so we’ve done that as well.

In addition, it costs us a lot more to send out 1 part than it does to send 10, because we have the human cost of picking that part from the shelf and putting it in the box. The human cost is virtually the same to pick a bunch as it is to pick one so it can easily be distributed across the lot. For this reason, on the 1-9 field quantity, many parts are going up in price, as we account for this previously unaccounted expense.

We realize that some of these changes will affect some of your entries to the current co-op design challenge. We want to be fair about that, so we’re raising the price of the components for the contest from $19.99 to $24.99.

In the interest of full disclosure here is a PDF with the complete list of changes. While most games will be unaffected, and some will actually see a price drop, we realize that some games will go up in price. We are sorry for this inconvenience and extra expense. If it could be avoided we would do that. We’ve been eating the price increases for the past year because we didn’t want to raise prices, but the price hikes got too high, and this forced us to update our pricing.
