State of Games # 35 – Cards with Words

Posted: September 19, 2012 in Uncategorized

From the podcast description…

Sometimes profound things come out of Monkey238?s mouth. One podcast she identified why certain types of luck are good and bad in a game depending on when they happen. In another, she pontificated on the popularity of zombies. And last podcast she practically invented a new game category, just on the fly. This is probably why I can’t seem to win at most of the games we play…

In this episode of The State of Games, Monkey and Dice delver further into “cards with words” – a new game category term that sprang up in the last podcast to describe something Monkey doesn’t care for and that has been a talking point among some gamers. The duo talk about why Magic: The Gathering qualifies, Seasons doesn’t, and “cards with icons” are just dandy. All this plus The Escapist Expo, Compounded, the joys of bad Reverse Charade guessers, pizza noodles, bunny-piles, and how not to pick your taxi driver at GenCon.
